Caleidoscopic Wonder

I photographed the inside of the caleidoscope to show the beautifull combination of colours and shapes that it casually creates. The caleidoscope has been pressed against a light box and I took photographs everytime I spinned it. The images are not concentric but simulate the actual experience of looking trough a Caleidoscope.

The Magic Box

Above you can see Zac lifting a Big Caleidoscope from the wooden box. This jewellery box has had its bottom removed. I also planned the floor to have an hole just where the box is, so that I could push big objects trough it and hopefully create a sense of suprise.
The tape mesure emulates the Mary Poppin one. Zac is nearly perfect becouse all he lacks is that smile that can make him comfortable with who he his.

I love to Laugh

This is another little gem from the Mary Poppins film: the magic of laughter and how litterally UPLIFTING it can be. My animation finishes with Zac choosing to go to the drssing up party as himself wearing a big smile: I wanted to celebrate the importance of accepting our true selves and acknowledge how important it is to share happiness and smiles with others.

A thing of Beauty is a joy forever...

My animation has been inspired by Mary Poppins. She has always been one of my childood favourite characters: I adored her magic and her encouraging, firm but smiling personality. The film is quite long and at time saddening but there is some scenes that are really special: flying with the umbrella, the bag trick, the tidyng the room up, jumping into the chalk pictures, having tea up in the air, walking on the cimneys. The trick of the bag, where all sorts of big object get pull out, is just the effect of wonder and suprise I wanted to recreate by having Zac pull out objects from the chest box.
I also emulated the tape mesure trick. In some ways this short animation is an homage to the film Mary Poppins

Human Costume

Above is Zac in his human costume. I like how quirky it looks. The idea of a puppet dressed as a Human just tickles me so much!

Dressed like a superhero!

Here's Zac (not Gustave) dressed like Zorro. He looks rather cool!
My daughter decided that the name Gustave wasn't right for this green little fellow: she choose Zac instead. I think Zac is much better too and it has the same initial as Zorro.
